British Soldiers are heading for Iraq wearing T-shirts saying "I'm Harry" in a show of defiance at rebels intent on harming the prince.

The move, which echoes a legendary scene of solidarity in movie Spartacus, comes days before the royal is deployed to the frontline.

Militants have pledged to kill Prince Harry but fellow troops are putting on a humorous display of camaraderie about the threat. Their khaki tops feature a telescopic sight target on the chest and "I'm Harry" scrawled in bloodred dye.

A senior military source said: "Soldiers are well known for having operational tour T-shirts and also for pulling together to support each other. Prince Harry is highly respected by his comrades as a young officer and for what he is doing in the Armed Forces.

"I wouldn't be surprised if all his troops haven't bought them to demonstrate their support for him as their leader and also to help donate some money to the Army Benevolent Fund."

The £19.95 shirt is being sold on eBay and advertised under a rallying call of "I'mSpartacus, I'm Harry, We're all Harry now. Confuse the enemy, wear the T-shirt". It is meant to copy a scene in the classic 1960 film Spartacus when Kirk Douglas's character is protected from Romans hunting him down after a battle. The eBay seller believes if British soldiers in Iraq are wearing the T-shirts it will confuse the terrorists and they will not know who to assassinate.
He says a percentage of all purchases will go to the British Army Benevolent Fund - although he does not say how much.

William and Harry have been accused of recording a bogus message on Queen Elizabeth II's answering machine.

The pair were asked for help by their regal gran when she was baffled by the technology. But she was reported to be mortified when she heard the end result.

"Hey wassup!" their message said. "This is Liz. Sorry I'm away from the throne. For a hotline to Philip, press one. For Charles, press two," the recording continued. "And for the corgis, press three."

According to The Daily Star, the Queen saw the funny side later when she thought about which VIP's might have heard the message. But her private secretary was not so amused. The paper says he almost fell off his chair the first time one of his calls was put through to the voicemail.

The "Prince" Goes To War

The Ministry of Defense ended speculation that had been swirling for about a week by announcing Thursday the 22-year-old prince will be sent to Iraq with his Blues and Royals regiment in May or June. Harry, a second lieutenant, will assume a troop commander's role. The narrowing of the British presence to the two locations in southern Iraq will mean any insurgent groups looking to target Troop Commander Wales — as he is known to his colleagues — will not have to look far to find him. That has led to some concern that his presence could bring an extra risk to his fellow soldiers.

Harry has been serious about joining "his boys" in Iraq. After graduating from Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, he insisted on getting the opportunity to serve his country. "There's no way I'm going to put myself through Sandhurst and then sit on my arse back home while my boys are out fighting for their country," he said in an interview to mark his 21st birthday. "That may sound very patriotic, but it's true."

The ministry has previously said that Harry could be kept out of situations where his presence could jeopardize his comrades. Military experts were divided over whether Harry's presence would make the situation more dangerous for his comrades.

In joining the military, Harry followed a royal tradition. His father, Prince Charles, was a pilot with the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy, and a ship commander, and Harry's grandfather, Prince Philip, had a distinguished career in the Royal Navy during World War II.

Ya know, I just hate the thought of this young man or any young man heading over to Iraq. But I do have to give him HUGE KUDOS for wanting to go with his group of men and not bailing. I just can't even imagine the heyday the Press will have if he gets killed in action.
